Jay and I don't really celebrate Valentines Day - not like everyone else does. I have always viewed the day as a time where single people get depressed, women compare notes, and men can never live up to expectations. I do not want to put that kind of pressure on my husband. Number one, I don't want him spending a ton of money that we don't have to try and make me happy for one day. And I really don't care for silly candy and drugstore bought gifts. Number two, it's the 2nd busiest day of the year for him in the restaurant business, so he's not really home. That does not bother me. We tend to put more focus on our anniversary, and birthdays. He shows me love every day.
Let me illustrate this - and get to the real reason I wrote this blog. Sometimes men have a way of doing the unexpected and surprising us.
With two kids in school and preschool, there is a lot to do when it comes to Valentines day. Each child had to decorate a box to hold their own Valentines. We had to put Valentines together for the kids in the class. And I had to make rice krispie treats for Hunter's class party. I also had to put together teacher gifts. Well Tuesday night we spent all night getting class Valentines and treat bags together. Hayley has 20 kids in her class, and Hunter has 29! I let Hunter write his own, and that took quite some time. Well last night (Wednesday), I still had to help Hunter with his box (they were holding a contest, too), and make the Rice Krispie treats. We didn't get home until almost 9:00, because we had a baptism at church, and had to go to Walmart. So it was already late. Hunter and I started on his box (we were making it a school bus with yellow paper, scrapbook stickers, and Hunter was drawing faces on white paper, which I was going to paste to the box as school-kids in the windows. I was beginning to get frustrated because I ran out of tape, and I had the wrong kind of paper and was not having an easy time wrapping the box. I had gone back to my bedroom closet (this was around 10:30), and all of a sudden got very, very sick. I had to lie on the floor. Now to the point. My dear husband (who is already very tired, and has to put in 12-14 hours the next day) puts me in bed, goes to Walmart to get more supplies, finishes Hunter's box (which looked great!), and made 2 batches of Rice Krispie treats. He even cut them and wrapped them nicely on a pretty plate. Now that is the best Valentine's gift ever. He may not ALWAYS be Casanova or SuperDad-- that does not come easy for most men. But I have to brag today. He is my best friend - and the love of my life!
Update at 4:30p.m. --By the way - Hunter won first place for his schoolbus box - no kidding! Check it out.

Kid's got talent....
Kudos to Jay, and thank him for taking care of my little baby girl.
Ohhh! That's the best ever. Isn't it funny how the little thing in life mean so much. Hunter's box looks great. Way to go Jay!! Christy, take it easy, and don't worry, the end will be here before you know it.
OH my word! That is so funny. What's so funny is that I have no idea where Jay got that from because could you possibly see my dad doing that? ha ha.... Pat on the back for Jay!
We don't really celebrate V-day either. I did get him a card that looked like Timmy's long lost relatives being cute as can be on the front. Oh yea, and a giant box of Cheese Nips just for John since he likes to eat all my 100 calorie cheese nips snacks, ha...
what a sweetheart! by the way - i love your new blog look!
