One of the hardest things for me to perfect as a mom is D-I-N-N-E-R! What am I doing wrong? I think my children are the pickiest eaters in the world!
Granted, I never really "learned" to cook. Sorry mom, but I didn't really have anyone to teach me. Our family had two parents who worked outside the home, and between my extracurricular activities most nights of the week, we ate convenience food quite often.
I have a ton of cookbooks and recipes to choose from, but I can't seem to please the troops. I have 3-4 recipes that they will eat with a smile.
So, I can use all of the help I can get! If you have a kid-friendly, budget-friendly, easy dinner recipe for me to try, please let me know!

We have quite a few things some of which you may have tried already. We have a taco buffet some nights..the kids love getting to fix their own tacos with all the fixings (we use the island as buffet/bar). We also have mexican fiesta...mix browned ground beef, tomato sauce, and chili hot beans. I serve it over rice and top with cheese, lettuce and tomato. We give the kids fritos to scoop it up with! They all love this and it can be made in the crockpot and cook all day. I have lots more recipes and would be happy to email them to you.
homemade pizza is always a hug hit in our house. i can give you a few recipes for that if you want. also, if you let your kids help prepare the food, they're often more likely to try it. have them help you plan the menu. give them a long list of food options and have then "order" what they want each day by filling out the menu for the week. getting them involved in some way i think could help. --a
My kids are pretty picky too and most of the time I end up making a meal for me & David and something totally different (but simple) for the kids. However, my kids will eat:
vegetables & corn bread
taco salads or soft tacos
hamburgers & homemade french fries
chicken breast (cooked anyway)
homemade chili (white chili or regular)
fish sticks (they think it is chicken sticks)
Also, I bought the cookbook Deceptively Delicious and cook brownies with vegetables in them and the kids never know it! There are several recipes in there I make that get the kids healthy foods and they never know it. Check it out on Amazon.
Hey there --
I proofed most of the new Kojie cookbook and there are many family/kid friendly recipes in that.
My friends and I have a blog too that we post things that are good recipes and all the people contributing are moms so usually they are good for kids too (menumamas.blogspot.com).
Good luck! We seem to eat tacos and spaghetti often!
