No Virginia. There is no Santa Claus.

Well the day finally came a couple of weeks ago when we told Hayley (our 8 year old) that there was no Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, or Tooth Fairy.

She took it very, very well. I wanted to cry.

She had asked a couple of times in the past 6 months or so, because she had been hearing from other kids that there was no Santa Claus. I tried to avoid the question, or reassure her without lying to her. However, when Hayley lost her tooth a couple of weeks ago, and was afraid of the Tooth Fairy coming into her room that night, Jay and I decided to break the news. She has had trouble sleeping in the past when the other fictional characters would "visit."

Since we told her, she has been talking about Santa lately in front of Hunter, and giving me little "winks." She feels so grown up now.

I, however, wanted to take the truth serum back immediately after in left my mouth. All of a sudden, I pictured my baby girl wearing a bra, shaving her legs, and wearing deodorant. I just want to keep her innocence! I know that it's not a big deal, but it's the first step in my eyes.

I don't remember when or how I found out about Santa Claus. Do you? How old were you?

I' m hoping there's a few more years to go on Kameryn. She convinced everyone in her class at school who didn't believe that there REALLY is Santa Claus...etc... I'm Ok with that!

Oh yeah, and Kam's been wearing deodorant for about a year.... WANTS a bra but doesn't need it, and won't be shaving until at least 6th grade..... that's when I started scaring my legs!

Well at least you and Kam have light hair. Hayley's and mine are dark! My dad wouldn't let me shave until 6th grade, and I thought I was going to die!

Whew...I may wish I had a daughter when my son replaces me with a daughter-in-law, but until then, I am SO not jealous of you guys!!! :)
(ESPECIALLY with the kind of teenage/young adult girl I was--double WHEW.

You guys make me laugh. I also had dark hair. I remember everyone else shaving before me and how embarrassed i was. I know the day is coming when Madie will be going through these things and it makes me very sad. I think i was around 8 when i found out. I can sill remember being in the mall parking lot with my mom. Man that seems like yesterday. I can't believe Hayley is already 8. 8....I rmember 8 and it doesn't feel that long ago. They grow up so fast.
