In honor of Mother’s Day, I decided to list some wonderful things about my mom, my mother-in-law, and about each of my children, who call me mom.
My Mom
1.Everything she does turns out perfect. Actually – much more than perfect. She is the hardest worker that I know. She doesn’t accept anything less than her best, whether it be at work, in her ladies’ ministry, or with her family.
2.She has this way of gaining the respect of everyone that she comes in contact with, without asking for it, or demanding it. She just has that natural quality about her. People love her.
3.She used to stay up for hours on end helping me with projects for school, or typing my term papers (I wrote them myself). She did this while I was sound asleep in bed. She didn’t even complain.
4.If you read any of my previous posts about Hayley (in the morning), I was probably like that all of the time. I was definitely a dramatic and passionate child. And I barely ever remember my mother raising her voice. I don’t know how she did it.
5.She continues to strengthen her relationship with the Lord, and devotes much of her time in his service. She does this despite many of the other requirements in her life. She is definitely an example to me.
I love you Mom!
My Mother-In-Law, Janice
1.From Day One, Janice took me in like one of her own. She has always been a second mother to me, and I can talk to her about anything.
2.Janice is always quick to offer to help me with the kids, or anything. She sees a need before she is even asked. She thinks of everyone before herself.
3.She is a “master” librarian with the Memphis City School system. She probably gives more love in an hour or so with some of those children than they may receive at home. They all love Mrs. Broccoli, er Mrs. Brockman!
4.She brought a little boy into this world – who is now my husband! I think she did a wonderful job making him into the man he is today. She taught him many life lessons and values that he carries on into his role as a father and husband.
5.I rarely see Janice in a bad mood. She is always pleasant to the people around her, and never has a negative attitude. Even when she is probably tired or frustrated, she has this way of “morphing” into June Cleaver, and making everyone around her feel wonderful!
I love you Janice!
Hayley
1.Hayley has the biggest heart for a 7 year old child. She truly cares about other’s feelings, and is always helping the people around her.
2.I never have to worry about Hayley when I send her to school or Bible class. She is always respectful to her teachers, and really never gets in trouble.
3.She is very artistic. She must get this from my mom. She wants to be a children’s book illustrator when she grows up.
4.She is almost exactly like I was as a child – in appearance and attitude. It’s really scary – in a good way! I love watching her grow up. It’s truly like going back in time sometimes.
5.Hayley never settles for less than her best, either. That’s a great quality to have. She makes straight A’s, and excels at whatever she puts her mind to. Although sometimes I have to try to make her relax a little!
I love you Hayley-bug!
Hunter
1.Hunter has this amazing ability to put a smile on my face in an instant. He rarely gets upset, and if he does it’s not for long at all. He has the best attitude. And without knowing it, reminds me what’s really important in life.
2.He is the most lovable child! He tells me about 100 times a day that he loves me, and is never stingy with his hugs. I love it.
3.Hunter has about 20-30 puzzles. He loves puzzles and is very good at them. Although he has a ton of energy, when he does a puzzle, he is very focused. I have been wondering if this is a sign of a particular future career choice.
4.Hunter, like Hayley, is always trying to be the best that he can be. He really soaks up information and loves to learn new things. It’s fun to teach him and share with him.
5.Everytime I try to tell Hunter something – some fact about life – he always responds, “Well, you don’t know everything. God does!” Even though he can be a smarty pants, I’m glad that he knows who comes first!
I love you Hunter-boo!

Wow! It still amazes me how much Hayley looks like you. I thought the date was wrong on the picture of your mother and her because I was so sure that it was you, at first. Hope you had a great Mother's Day!
