Father's Day Tribute

In line with my Mother's Day comments, here are some words about the fathers in my life.

My Dad

1. He is usually the first person that a friend or family member in need will go to for help. He is always sacrificing his time for others.

2. When he notices that someone is distraught, uncomfortable, or unhappy, he will go out of his way to make them feel better and make them feel welcome.

3. He treats my mom like a queen. If you know him, you know what I mean.

4. He is not afraid to be vocal about his convictions, or to confront someone who has gone astray. He is not afraid to offend anyone when it comes to his religious beliefs.

5. He taught me to be independent and strong. He taught me to be courteous and to respect others.

My father-in-law, "Pops"

1. I don't believe that I have ever heard him say an unkind word about another person.

2. You don't have to be around him long to realize that family means the world to him.

3. He is the one family member that is always there to support others. He tries his best to attend every wedding, funeral, reunion, whatever it may be, and whatever family member it may be for. He is always there.

4. He is a great example to men everywhere. He is strong, compassionate, giving, loyal and determined.

5. He is the one who taught my husband about fatherhood. And I think he did a pretty good job. :)

My husband, Jay

1. He is definitely the "cool parent." Rarely is he too busy to get down and play with the kids. They always look forward to when Daddy is home.

2. He leads by example. The kids learn a lot from him about respect, integrity, hard work, and loyalty. He always treats me with kindness and respect in front of our children. (And away from them too!)

3. He is constantly making me smile or laugh. He is usually the one who is lifting me up in life.

4. He shares the same family values as I do. Like his father, you can always tell that family is the world to him.

5. He is well respected by those who work for him. This is a hard thing to accomplish with 100+ young employees. But he has a way about him that makes it hard to not like him. He is a strong leader. At the same time, he shows the same respect for others.

Love you all!

Such sweet thoughts. Thank you for seeing the good in me.
I'm not sure about number 4, though. I really don't see myself as quick to offend others. Maybe I just don't see myself as I am.

I love you.

Dad

Awwhh...you know what I mean. You are not quick to offend, yet you are not afraid to offend, if necessary.

What a perfect tribute to the most important men in your life. Sounds like you have so much love and support. Nice to have a father-in-law you love so much too.

Great post Christy. I really enjoyed the pics and words of kindness.
