I’m not really a big fan of making New Year’s Resolutions. It just seems a little pointless – well at least in my life. I usually forget all about them by the second week of January. This year, I decided to share a different list with you. This is a list of things I would like to see invented in 2009.
1. The Self-Cleaning Toilet.
You know, like the self-cleaning oven? I wish I could just push a button, and my toilet would go to work cleaning itself. Outside, inside, and hard-to-reach places!
2. The Sick Spa.
When you are sick, do you wish you had someone (your mom, etc.) to take care of you just like when you were little? At my “sick spa,” patients would receive TLC in the form of medicinal or herbal remedies, a warm bath, a massage, some hot tea, and even a cozy bed to sleep in. There would also be a little bell to ring when needed.
3. The 30-hour Day.
Don’t you wish there were more hours in the day? In my ideal 2009, we would change the entire calendar to make each day 30 hours long. That way I could get everything done, AND I would actually get some sleep!
4. Take-out Groceries.
I know this concept has already been invented. But I don’t think it is used very much, at least not locally. I would love to be able to call Kroger and have the following conversation, “Hello. Yes, I would like to order some boneless chicken, a 78-count of Pampers Swaddlers, a box of Go-Gurts, a half-gallon of milk, a loaf of Sara Lee wheat bread, and a box of diet cokes. It will be here in 30 minutes? Great! Thank you!”
5. The Clothes-Folding Extraordinaire.
This contraption would fit nicely in my laundry room, along-side my washer and dryer. It would be the third step in my laundry cycle. I would take the clothes out of my dryer, put them in the Clothes-Folding Extraordinaire, and presto – my clothes would come out nice and neatly folded!
So there is my New Year’s list. If any of these get invented, you are all my witnesses that I thought of it first! (Well at least I think so.)

I am all about #s 2, 3, and 5. Those have to be my favorites. I would love to have those in my life. If those are invented this year I will make sure you get credit :)
Thank you, thank you!!! I will take all of these wonderful ideas. I LOVE the "to go grocery items"
Take-out grocery stores? Where do they already have these because I am moving there? I would just be happy with drive-thru grocery stores.
